Ryan was born a rambling man. While growing up in North Carolina, he was afforded the opportunity to start traveling internationally at a very young age. Every year he and his parents would take one or two international trips that were often off the beaten path. To date he has been to roughly 45 countries on 6 continents. Ryan possesses a BA in Human Geography from East Carolina University and a Master’s in Cultural Anthropology from George Mason University.
Some of his adventures and travels include: studying abroad in Buenos Aires, Argentina; completing a summer field course in India/Tibet and climbing in the Himalaya; completing fieldwork in Cusco, Peru, for his Master’s thesis; skydiving off the Gold Coast of Australia; whitewater rafting in Costa Rica; climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro in Tanzania; embarking on safaris in Kenya, Zambia and South Africa; riding camels in Morocco, and following the Tour De France cycling race around France.
All of these amazing experiences have shaped who Ryan is today. He is happiest when surrounded by nature, climbing rugged mountain peaks, interacting with diverse cultures, and working with students. He has an insatiable passion for helping kids to see the world and get outside of their comfort zone and challenge themselves mentally and physically.
Ryan resides just outside of Denver, Colorado, and loves having the stunning Rocky Mountains in his backyard as his playground. He is currently pursuing a career in outdoor education and teaching. He also loves to play soccer, so if you join him on any of his trips, you will be encouraged to play many impromptu games. Ryan is ecstatic to be a part of Global Explorers team and serve as an ambassador for creating and promoting Global Citizenship.
